Course Summary
Within the Syracuse University IDD&E program, I completed ten courses – six in a traditional classroom setting and four online. Details regarding these courses and my academic performance in each are provided below.
IDE 552 – Digital Media Production
Grade – A
Focused on digital instructional media development, this class provided an overview and instruction on using current and emerging media tools such as graphics software, video editors, web design platforms, and mobile technologies.
IDE 611 – Technologies for Instructional Settings
Grade: A
This class equipped students with knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience in various information and communication technologies relevant to educational contexts. Participants also produced instructional content and examined key issues associated with information technologies in teaching and learning environments.
IDE 621 – Principles of Instruction and Learning
Grade: A
This class explores learning and instructional theories, investigating the various factors that affect how humans learn, from adolescents to adults, and how these insights inform the development and oversight of instruction.
IDE 631 – Instructional Design and Development I
Grade: A
Analyzing the core aspects of instructional design and development, this class highlights the importance of learning outcomes, instructional objectives, and strategies, grounding them in theory and practice. The course emphasizes acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary for creating instructional design rationales.
IDE 632 – Instructional Design and Development II
Grade: A-
The class provides an engaging exploration of the theories and practices of instructional design and development. A central theme is instructional systems and model design (ISD), with an emphasis on understanding its real-world application in different environments.
IDE 641 – Techniques in Educational Evaluation
Grade: A
The course focuses on providing hands-on, structured methods for evaluating educational and training programs and projects. Its modules are designed around critical aspects like planning, client interactions, problem assessment, data handling and analysis, report generation, evaluation oversight, and ethical considerations.
IDE 712 – Analysis for Human Performance Technology Decisions
Grade: A
This course focused on employing analytical techniques, including Front-End Analysis (FEA) from both industrial and educational perspectives, to assess whether training is the most appropriate solution for various performance issues. It also examined human behavior and the role of instruction in driving performance changes at work and within society.
IDE 761 – Strategies in Educational Project Management
Grade: A
Students acquired management tactics, skills, procedures, and tools essential for planning and administering educational projects. The curriculum covered the entire project lifecycle, from planning and implementation to maintenance and closure, and delved into key project management issues related to focus, change, and quality.
IDE 737 – Advanced Instructional Design
Grade: A
Centered on practical involvement in crafting, constructing, and assessing instruction to effectively facilitate learning throughout every stage of an instructional intervention, encompassing setting the scene, delivering content, encouraging exploration, and conducting assessments. This capstone course consists two significant products: a ready-to-implement instructional unit and a detailed reflection journal of the improvement journey, complete with evaluation guidelines.
IDE 772 – Educational Technology in International Settings
Grade: A
This course involved examining how educational technology is conceived and applied, and how educational innovation projects are planned and executed, across various national and cultural contexts. The study included analyzing typical project case examples and proposing fitting solutions for the issues these examples presented.
